Privacy policy
Last updated: November 1, 2026
This policy explains what information brandtmiller.com collects, how I use it, and the choices you have. “I” and “me” mean Brandt Miller.
What I collect
When you send a message through the contact form, I receive:
- your name and email address
- what you’re interested in (sessions, a group, an event or something else)
- where you’re based, if you add it
- your message
- whether you ticked the newsletter box
The form also records the date, the page you sent it from, and the type of browser and operating system you used. It doesn’t record your IP address.
If you email me directly, I receive whatever you include.
When you browse the site, the tools described below (Google Analytics and Meta’s advertising tools) also collect information about your device and how you use the site, mostly through cookies.
How I use it
- to read and reply to your message
- to talk with you about working together, if that’s what you’ve asked about
- to send you my newsletter, only if you ticked the box
- to understand how people use the site, so I can improve it
- to show my ads to people likely to be interested, and see how they perform
- to keep spam and abuse out of the contact form
Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager
I use Google Analytics to see how visitors use the site: which pages they visit, how long they stay, and roughly where they are. Google Analytics uses cookies to do this. Google Tag Manager is how these tools are loaded on the site. You can read how Google uses this information at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites (opens in a new tab), and you can opt out with your browser settings or Google’s opt-out browser add-on.
Facebook and Instagram advertising
I may advertise on Facebook and Instagram, which are run by Meta. To do that, the site uses Meta’s tools (such as the Meta Pixel), which use cookies and similar technology to:
- recognise visitors to this site when they’re on Facebook or Instagram
- show ads to people likely to be interested
- measure how the ads perform
You can manage the ads you see in your Facebook or Instagram ad settings.
Form security
The contact form has a hidden field that people don’t see but automated spam programs fill in, so their messages can be set aside. It collects nothing about you and uses no cookies.
Cookies and your choices
Cookies are small files your browser stores. This site uses them for the analytics and advertising described above; the site itself needs none to work. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and you can still read the site and send a message without them. [Cookie consent banner for visitors in the EU and UK: to decide before launch.]
The site doesn’t currently respond to “Do Not Track” signals from browsers.
If you write about your health or history
People often write about difficult things in a first message. Share only what you’re comfortable sharing. I treat what you write as confidential and use it only to respond to you.
The newsletter
The newsletter box on the contact form is unticked unless you tick it. If you do, I add your email address to my mailing list, which is run by Mailchimp. Mailchimp emails you first to confirm, and you’re only added once you do. Every newsletter has an unsubscribe link, and you can also ask me to remove you at any time. I keep a record of your consent (the date and the wording you agreed to) with your message.
Who else handles your information
- Hostinger hosts this website, including the messages sent through the form.
- SMTP2GO sends the messages from the contact form to my inbox.
- Google Workspace runs my email.
- Mailchimp runs the newsletter, if you sign up.
- Google provides Analytics and Tag Manager.
- Meta provides the Facebook and Instagram advertising tools.
I don’t sell your information. The messages you send through the form are never passed to Google or Meta.
Links to other sites
This site links to other websites: event hosts such as Esalen and Broughton Sanctuary, Steppe & Soul, and Instagram. When you follow a link, that site’s own privacy policy applies.
How long I keep it
I keep messages for as long as I need them to reply and to follow up with you, and delete them after two years if we haven’t worked together. If you’re on the newsletter list, your email address stays on it until you unsubscribe. Google and Meta keep the data their tools collect under their own retention settings.
Your rights
You can ask me at any time to:
- tell you what information I hold about you, and send you a copy
- correct it
- delete it
- stop sending you the newsletter
If you’re in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you have these rights under the GDPR, along with the right to restrict or object to how your information is used, to move it, and to withdraw your consent at any time. I rely on your consent (when you send a message, sign up or accept cookies) and on my legitimate interest in running and improving the site.
If you live in California, you have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA and CPRA): to know what I collect and how I use it, to delete it, to correct it, and to limit the use of sensitive information. I don’t sell personal information, but using advertising cookies can count as “sharing” under California law, and you can ask me to opt you out. I won’t treat you differently for using any of these rights.
To make a request, email info@brandtmiller.com. I may need to confirm it’s you before I act on it.
Keeping it safe
The site uses an encrypted (HTTPS) connection, and I take reasonable steps to protect what you send me. No website or email system is completely secure, so please don’t send anything by the form that you wouldn’t want sent by email.
Children
This site isn’t meant for children under 16, and I don’t knowingly collect their information.
Changes to this policy
If I change how the site handles your information, I’ll update this page and the date at the top.
